Romanesco broccoli is one of nature's most extraordinary vegetables. Every floret is a smaller version of the whole head, which is itself a smaller version of the full plant. Fibonacci spirals radiate outward in every direction, following the same mathematical sequence found in nautilus shells, sunflowers, and galaxies. It grows this way without any instruction from outside itself, simply unfolding according to a pattern that was already there.
The Soul Star Chakra, the eighth energy center in Diana Cooper's extended chakra system, sits six to twelve inches above the crown of the head, outside the physical body entirely. Often called the seat of the soul, it acts as a bridge between your human experience and higher cosmic consciousness, governing divine wisdom, spiritual purpose, and unconditional love. Like the Romanesco, it does not need to be constructed. It needs to be opened.
The background is Byzantine golden mosaic tiles, the same aesthetic found in Rome's oldest basilicas. Gold has long been associated with divine light. The mosaic form, built from thousands of individual pieces that together create one unified image, mirrors the chakra's own meaning.
Each piece in the Italian Chakra Series is drawn by hand using ink, acrylic, and drops of Mediterranean seawater. This is the eleventh of twelve.
This piece is well suited to meditation rooms, healing spaces, studios, and any space where you do your clearest thinking.
