This artwork is part of my Italian Chakra Series, created as I’ve been adjusting to life here in Italy. I found myself drawn to ingredients that shape everyday life in this part of the world — tomatoes especially. They’re simple, nourishing, and deeply tied to the land. Above the soil, they thrive in the sun; below, their roots spread wide and steady. It felt like the perfect symbol for the Root Chakra (Muladhara), which is all about grounding, home, and feeling supported.
I made this piece slowly by hand with ink, acrylic, and a few drops of Mediterranean seawater, mixing earthy textures with patterns inspired by Italian stained glass, mosaics, and carved wood. Italy’s long tradition of slow cooking and handmade craft also shaped the look and feel of this artwork — a small homage to the beauty of things made with care.
Whether given as a gift or added to your own space, this drawing brings warm, grounding energy and a reminder of what keeps us rooted.
