This artwork is part of my Italian Chakra Series, created after moving to Italy as a way to reconnect, recalibrate, and ground myself in the energy of this landscape. Inspired by the fruits and vegetables that define Mediterranean life — and the slow cooking traditions that protect them — each piece pairs natural symbolism with the handcrafted aesthetics Italy is known for: stained glass, mosaics, wood carving, and rich folk patterns.
This Solar Plexus piece draws on the iconic lemons of Sicily and southern Italy. Their bright, cleansing energy mirrors the qualities of the Solar Plexus Chakra, called Manipura in Sanskrit, meaning “city of jewels” or “lustrous gem.” Manipura governs confidence, direction, motivation, and inner fire — the spark that helps us move forward with clarity and purpose.
Hand-drawn slowly and intentionally with ink and acrylic — and mixed with a few drops of Mediterranean Sea water — this artwork is meant to uplift, energize, and strengthen the atmosphere around it. It was the first image that came to mind when this series emerged, and its vibrant yellow tones carry the warmth and vitality of the Italian sun.
