Before I started painting again, I had a rough idea of the sorts of paintings I wanted to make. I knew I wanted a rabbit to be my mascot, so I thought perhaps a bunny might be appropriate to kick things off. However for some reason these owls (a mother and child) popped in my mind and I immediately knew that this was what I wanted to paint first.
I lived and worked in Myanmar from 2016-2019 and have watched with growing horror this year how the military seized control of the country and slaughters its own people who are peacefully protesting the loss of their democracy. In Myanmar, owls, especially in pairs symbolize protection and good luck. In cultures around the world they also signify wisdom and knowledge.
It seems appropriate that my first recent painting would "protect" my creative process and ambitions to paint again. They offer anyone who is drawn to them a sense of comfort, parental guidance, wisdom, good luck, and protection. They especially are well suited to watch over and protect the entryway of homes, schools, or businesses.
All my original paintings and drawings will be signed before shipping. I'll also make and send via email a personalized video message to you of myself signing the work and a description of the shipping process as I ensure it gets safely from my part of the world to yours (with love).
