One is the first piece in my Bee, Honeycomb and Oneness Series, an ongoing body of work exploring the geometry of the hive and what bees can teach us about belonging to something larger than ourselves.
Every panel in the series shares the same honeycomb structure, held within a golden woven border. Inside the hexagons, each piece becomes its own world. In this first drawing, the cells are filled with patterns inspired by textiles, ceramics, and traditional designs from cultures across every continent, all rendered in shades of blue. Resting on top is a single honeybee, drawn in close detail, from the soft fuzz of its body to the light in its eye.
Bees have been honored across cultures as symbols of community, hard work, abundance, and the sacred connection between all living things. No bee survives alone, yet the hive depends on every single one. One is a meditation on that balance: being fully yourself while being part of something whole.
