This drawing is part of my Italian Chakra Series, created while settling into life here in Italy. Each piece in the series is inspired by the fruits and vegetables that shape this region’s way of living — ingredients treated with care, and traditions that still value slow cooking, craft, and connection.
For the Root Chakra, I kept coming back to tomatoes. They’re humble, everyday essentials here, yet deeply tied to the land. Above the soil, the plant reaches upward with bright fruit and full leaves; below, its roots spread wide and steady. It felt like the perfect symbol for grounding and belonging — the qualities at the heart of the Root Chakra (Muladhara).
I created this piece slowly by hand with ink, acrylic, and a few drops of Mediterranean seawater. The patterns are inspired by Italian stained glass, mosaics, and carved wood — small nods to the heritage and beauty woven into everyday life here.
The Root Chakra is all about stability, safety, and feeling supported. My hope is that this artwork brings a little of that grounded energy into your home — whether it hangs in a meditation space, a kitchen, or anywhere you want a reminder to stay rooted.
