The Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) is the center of creativity, joy, pleasure, and emotional flow, and oranges felt like the perfect symbol for this energy. Bright, warm, and full of life, citrus groves are woven deeply into Italy’s culture — from the terraced orchards along the Amalfi Coast to the sun-soaked landscapes of Sicily.
This piece is part of my Italian Chakra Series, created as a way of reconnecting my own energy to the place I now call home. After years of living in Malawi and exploring its plants and patterns, I felt drawn to create a new chakra set rooted in Italy’s food heritage and traditional craft. Each artwork in this series is made slowly by hand using ink, acrylic, and a few drops of Mediterranean seawater — a small symbolic way of anchoring these pieces to this region.
The circular form, mosaic tiles, and stained-glass-like textures all reference Italian artisanship — timeless, tactile, and imperfect in the most human way. The oranges themselves represent fertility, inspiration, movement, and the sweetness of letting life unfold rather than forcing it.
This artwork is for anyone seeking to reconnect with their creative spark, embrace a sense of play and flow, or simply bring more warmth into their home. Whether it hangs in a kitchen, studio, or living space, it’s meant to brighten the room the way a bowl of fresh oranges brightens a table — quietly but completely.
